Gunnison Orchestra and Vocal Academy

Join us for the inaugural season of the Gunnison Orchestra and Vocal Academy, an immersive five-day program dedicated to vocal and instrumental chamber music training in the heart of the Rockies.
Presented by 212, this unique summer experience launches on June 6 with “Echoes from Italy”, a stunning opening night performance featuring members of the Colorado Symphony and Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung. This celebratory concert marks the beginning of an exciting week of music-making, collaboration, and artistic growth.
From June 7–10, participants will engage in:
Vocal and instrumental lessons
Chamber music coaching
Vocal masterclasses
Group and individual training
Vocal coachings will be led by Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung and Grammy-nominated, Colorado Music Hall of Fame inductee bass-baritone Keith Miller, offering an unparalleled opportunity to work closely with two of today’s most accomplished artists.
The Academy culminates in a final performance on June 10 at 2:00 PM at Quigley Auditorium on the campus of Western Colorado University, showcasing the work of all participants. This concert will be livestreamed and professionally recorded, with each student receiving a copy for their personal portfolio.

This year marks the beginning of what will become a vibrant summer festival, fostering collaboration between the Colorado Symphony, Western Colorado University, and surrounding arts organizations. Future seasons will expand to include opera, symphonic and chamber music performances, vocal showcases, and dance intensives.
